JAGUAR XK BLACK
Jaguar XKR-S Ultimate Black
2009 Aussie pretty packaging: Jaguar XK-S
Jaguar seems to be clearing out the last of the 2009 XKs in Australia with a special edition. It’s called the XK-S, and its nothing like the XKR-S of last summer. Where the Europe-only XKR-S was a supercharged Jag with a great handling package, the XK-S for Australia is basically an appearance package.
This Jag comes with 20-inch Senta alloy wheels, luxury sports interior, brushed aluminum gear knob, bright finish pedals, as well as a few more exterior enhancements. It also gets the standard 2009 XK engine, which is the 4.2-liter V8 that makes about 300 hp. Not a bad engine, but we’ll probably wait for the upgraded 385 hp 5.0-liter V8 that is already announced for the 2010 model.
The production will only be limited to nine units, which means this car will at least be exclusive. This is a good thing considering eachexample has an asking price of about $138,000 U.S. ($209,400 in Aussie cash).
To emphasise the exclusive nature of the XK-S model, there will only be 9 cars in total produced for the Australian market. Chris Lidis, General Manager, Jaguar Australia, commented: "We are very pleased to be able to offer Jaguar customers the Jaguar XK-S. The specification is quite unique, and very exclusive. It combines outstanding performance and dramatic beauty with individual touches of craftsmanship and equipment that lift it to another level".
Jaguar’s advanced all aluminum construction makes the XK and XK-S the lightest yet strongest car in it’s class; CATS Computer Active Technology Suspension underpins it’s perfect balance of control and agility with comfort and refinement; it’s six speed automatic transmission is recognized as one of the world’s best, and it is powered by an acclaimed engine - the 219kW 4.2-litre AJ-V8.
Available to order now, the Jaguar XK-S is available in 3 colors - Indigo blue, Ultimate Black, Liquid Silver, and with a choice of Caramel or Warm Charcoal interior. The XK-S will carry a recommended retail price of $209,400.
Jaguar XKR 75 to debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed
The year 2009 may very well be remembered as the year in which Jaguar reclaimed its place on the world's most sporting luxury cars list. Very quickly after revealing a whole range of images and specification for the XFR we now have the same for the XK and the supercharged XKR. Jaguar's 2+2 grand tourer has been completely revised and now features the new generation of powerful yet economical engines.
The 5.0-litre V8 is the choice of power for the XK. In its naturally aspirated guise the all-aluminium engine makes 385PS (283kW) and 380lb ft (515Nm) of torque. For the XKR a supercharger has been installed and it helps the car push out 510PS (380kW) and 461lb ft (625Nm) of torque. The XK places 5.2 seconds on the board for its 0 - 60mph time (0 - 100km/h is 5.5 seconds). The XKR runs 0 - 60mph in 4.6 seconds and its 0 - 100km/h time is 4.8 seconds. The XK and XKR's 6-speed automatic gearbox has additional clutch plates and an uprated torque converter added to accommodate the extra power.
Three versions of the car are offered; XK, XK Portfolio and XKR. They are also available in coupe or convertible body styles. The list of exterior improvements is long so a few can be highlighted. These are new rear LED lights incorporating fog lamps plus twin reserve lights, body-coloured side power vents and model-specific differences. King XKR for example features a new lower rear valance and a revised tailpipe design.
The interior is peppered with comforts like leather, seat heating and cooling, three spoke steering wheel and JaguarDrive Selector. An R Performance interior is naturally found in the XKR. Detroit is the place for a live public reveal. Stay put.
