Citroën Saxo in reliability test

I always had some doubts with reliability of French cars; Renault, Peugeot and Citroën. They are not like German cars, but they are not that bad either. French cars tend to make more noise, love to visit workshop more often, interior parts may not look that nice, you might suffer some more problems and etc!

However, they always manage to survive in one piece. I mean, wheels are stay connected with the car, doors are working, engine is also placed roboust enough to cope with the stress. The mechanical parts cause problem but they never tend to evacuate their selves.

Honestly, French cars are opposite French fashion brands. This is the easiest and best way to explain them.

Unfortunately, this video is totally unbelievable. I have never seen something like this before; a car losing its both rear wheels due to hand brake turn. I can accept some cars are not that well-made but come on, major parts of the cars are manufactured for a century and they are at the top of the engineering hierarchy. Everything can go wrong but major parts keep doing their job! But this Citreon Saxo disproof this theory and shows that, even a modern can act like a lego!

I am pretty sure that, the owner was very tough on this car never made a proper maintenance. And started to race directly. Even though, owner's ignorance behaviour on maintenance, the wheels should be keep moving and stay health after a hand brake turn :)

Achtung: Citroën

I was lazy last month and I couldn’t read my magazine on time! I always try to keep up with the journalist but sometimes they are faster than me! Anyway, recently Fifth Gear presented the Citroën DS3 Racing model. As I don’t like French cars, I didn’t pay attention. It is fast, good looking and that’s all.

Actually that wasn’t all, this new DS3 Racing was named totally wrong. French marketing people forgot their mother language. It should have been named as DS3 Super Léger (Super Light). This small car, which is a slightly bigger than a very well feed cat, only weighs 1165 kg. That’s nothing in terms of automotive, just 1.1 tonnes. And this car has decent airbags, air condition, seats, four wheels, one transmission and one engine. That engine produces 200 HP of power! When you combine 1.1 tonnes with 200 HP, it ends up with zero to one hundred kph in 6,5 seconds. That's really quick.

This car is beyond my expectations from boring Citroën. I am really serious, this car changed the rock solid brand image of Citroën in my mind. Even though, I don’t like manual gearbox, I wish to drive one of them. And I am sure that, it will be a great experience.

By the way, the next Citroën WRC car will be based on this one!

Lacoste Car: Citroën

I always respected integration of fashion and automotive brands but it does not happen that often. Actually the brand which supposed to be engaged with automotive brands does not involve. As I remember Mercedes and Armani had a special edition CLK, Ferre with Mini and Prada with Hyundai Genesis. Yes, that’s right Prada and Hyundai worked together. I really don’t know whether these cars sold to customers or they were just PR campaign.

Now Citroën introduced a concept car with Lacoste. For me Lacoste is the most boring fashion brand! They are selling the same polo t-shirt for last two thousand years. I am pretty sure that if you dig enough in Pyramids, you can find someone with Lacoste polo t-shirt. Also the long sleeve polo sweat shirt offers the same dullness with senseless prices. Lacoste is the definition for over priced products. They are selling their perfectly boring t-shirts for very exciting prices! If they were producing cars, they would be selling VW Golf for 50 000 € !!

There is no price and product relation! It is just a Lacoste. And probably Citroën Lacoste will be priced with a lot of zeros and it will be the same car for next four decades and offering ridiculously too much colours options. Citroën says it is offering minimalist Lacoste styling (I have never heard something like this before) with golf ball style and plenty of performance from engine and lastly inflatable roof.

I have never heard something more pointless and ridiculous than this :) If I summarize; golf ball inspired car with plastic roof and nobody knows how many horses are inside the engine. And tyres looks like really ridiculous. Sorry Citroën, my review is not that good! I hope it will be a concept forever :)

What did you do Monsieur Bugatti ?

A few days ago Bugatti announced the new model Super Sport which produces 1200 horse power to reach 430 km/h speed! That’s really amazing and exciting. Also this hormone fed Veyron is offered by orange and black colours. This colour combination is a symbol of new Veyron. This PR campaign is very well designed to reflect Super Sport’s super character but there is a minor problem.

Recently Citroën announced new DS3. Like Mini, this is a rebirth of an old iconic model. Everything is normal until now. Citroën decided to offer a quicker version of DS3 and called it DS3 Racing; excellent! And they revealed the pictures of Racing version, this 200 horse power version of DS3 is shown with orange and black colours!

Two French car manufacturers are revealing their quicker versions and they are using same coloured cars for their press release. I have nothing to say. I have never been to France, maybe this is something traditional in French car industry but a very funny coincident. We learn one thing from this; if you wish to release a quicker French car, paint it to orange and black :) And if you cannot afford to buy a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, just buy a Citroën DS3 Racing; they are in same colour :)
