I met with Nigel Mansell

Yesterday was a very remarkable day for me. It wasn’t like an ordinary or depressing Sunday. I think it was the best Sunday, I have ever seen!

For very long time, I was expecting to see a Formula 1 legend. Unfortunately, Senna died long time ago, Schumacher is still racing, Alain Prost is in France and I am not living in France! I think I forgot one more person, Nigel Mansell. If you were watching Formula 1 during 90s, it is impossible forget him. Competition between Prost, Mansell and Senna were the best times of Formula 1. And they were racing with the cars almost made from plastic and attached with a lunatic engine. They were some regulations but it wasn’t like nowadays.

He retired from Formula 1 and years passed away. Time to time, I saw Mansell on TV or in magazines. But I never thought, one day I can met with him! And I never knew that he was from Birmingham, where I live at the present.

Couple of weeks ago, I checked the BroadStreet.co.uk website and I noticed that Mansell will in Birmingham. It was a very big surprise for me. I have been waiting to see a Formula 1 driver but I never thought, it would be this easy.

Yesterday, I went to city centre to see Mansell. And hopefully I didn’t wait for long time. He was a few metres away from me. The legendary Formula 1 driver, a person who can drive a Formula 1 car. This is similar to see a rock star. I don’t think there is a big difference between them. I think many people were thinking like me and it was more crowded than I expected. He talked nearly for one hour and told about his Formula 1 memories and his life in Birmingham.

Hopefully, he stayed longer than I thought and I had chance to see him from a very close distance. But many people were coming and going, it wasn’t that easy to talk with him. Of course, I had a very important question to ask! Eventually, I manage to find him with fewer people. And asked my question, “What do you drive”. His answer was very political, similar to dialogues on BBC Parliament. “I drive everything!” I think he is right, he can drive any car he wants, none of the manufacturers will hesitate to lend him a car.

However, he mentioned some brands! Mercedes, Ferraris and Range Rover. The important point on this sentence is the Ferraris. It was plural and like me, many other people understood when he meant! He has couple of Ferraris :)

I couldn’t get an exact answer but now I know what he drives regularly :) 

Lastly, he was very kind to everyone, there were lots of people were rushing to met with him, and he never get bored of taking pictures or giving a signature for quite long time.

Why he was here? He received his Walk of Star honour.

The Most Pointless Motor Sport

I don't like to mention negative criticism in my blog but after watching this video, I couldn't help myself! Some people on this planet still think that truck or tractor pulling is something cool and considered as a motor sport. Unfortunately, pulling a heavy weight in a straight line and making black smoke is not cool and does not match with the modern world. Why? In modern world, where we live, there is something called emissions levels. And all car manufacturers pay very high attention to emission levels and try their best to reduce it. In addition to this, Formula 1 is focused on reducing emission levels to develop more efficient engines for automotive industry. In summary, automotive world is associated with emission levels and low levels are appreciated!

Unfortunately, pulling a weight in a straight line and showing off your diesel engine with pre-historic technology through huge black smoke cannot be considered as either a motor sport or something cool! Moreover, I have never heard of any technology transfer from weight pulling to automotive industry. I am sorry for my comment but this is what I think about pulling weights!

Monaco Grand Prix by a girl point of view

I recently discovered a new blog that is a real unique one. It is written by Mel (@MelKirk), actually it is not written! It is shot by Mel. Because, there are only few words appear on the blog, and the rest of it is on the video. But these videos are not the usual ones, which you can find on YouTube regularly. Actually, she never says any words on her videos, she just pop ups papers with the words. Yes, she never speaks but she speaks through the papers!

What is the relationship with the cars? Actually, she was really lucky to attend Monaco Formula 1 race and she shared their feelings through this lovely video.

Secrets of Ferrari Formula One Team !

All the time we are exposed to TV programmes like “Secret of Formula One”. And they are always showing footages from air tunnels, engines parts, manufacturing and very similar things. But none of them tells anything about the Formula 1 Crew! Formula 1 is not just a pilot and its team manager, there are lots of people behind this show and we only a few of them on TV.

Recently, I learned a secret about Ferrari Formula 1 Team! The most secret information of Formula One world. No, they are not using alien technology or anti-gravity! They have the same technology as we have, or people who have Ferrari. I don’t think we can afford for Ferrari’s technology!

I chat with Ferrari through their Twitter account. They were waiting for their flight in airport. I thought they were waiting for their Ferrari Team jet but they weren’t waiting for this. So I thought, they might be waiting for their first or business class journey but no again! Unfortunately the whole team travels with economic class ticket!

Can you imagine this? They are the real people who achieved the Ferrari Team to be champion and promoted the sales of Ferrari cars but they travel in economic class! Come on Ferrari Spa, you can do better than economic class. I know it would be “expensive” but you are not a small Formula One team which is struggling on tight budget. Give these people proper business class tickets to relax during their trips :)

The movie of Ayrton Senna

Actually I was planning to write something else but today I found a movie trailer which I was waiting for long years. And I wanted to share this with everyone. I am pretty sure that many of you have been waiting for this also. The movie of Ayrton Senna.

I don’t want to write a long post for his movie. I am very happy to see the trailer, after it was mentioned about a month ago in BBC Top Gear.

Three seater F1 by Ferrari, I don't know why they made it!

If you are very rich person sometimes you have to face the realities of life. They might be nightmare for you. You have the but you cannot change those situations. For many years, very rich people satisfying their superb driving skills by purchasing former F1 cars. Mainly Ferrari is very good in this business. If you have lots of money and you don’t have anything to do rather than sleeping whole day, you can buy a Ferrari F1 car and drive it whenever you wish in Ferrari’s circuit.

Actually I don’t know the details about F1 experience but it should be something like this. The best way to increase the wealth of the company. Of course, you will have pit crew to support the car and they will be clapping their hands for your catastrophic circuit laps and you will feel like Schumacher.

These very rich people have friends and families. And it is quite hard to describe how you drive a F1 car. Especially if you have lots of money, telling this experience by just words are not enough. You should show them your excellent talent!

And now, the very very rich and very very non busy people can have their three seater F1 car from Ferrari. They made it, you can accommodate two of your friends or your relative or anyone and show how slow you can drive a Ferrari F1 car.

Actually I have no idea why Ferrari made something like this, most probably either for PR campaigns or for satisfying some rich customers. You know, some Ferrari customers are not happy with design and they asked for an estate Ferrari.
