Audi RS3 Tyre Syndrome

I recently mentioned about the new Audi RS3's interesting tyres size measures (Previous post). The front tyres are wider than the rear ones. This is quite unusual in automotive world, usually the rear tyres are wider for more grips and the front tyres are narrower. And aesthetically, it looks nice too.

However, new RS3 has a different setting for tyre sizes and I assumed that, Audi did this to reduce the understeer by providing more grip on front tyres. And I asked this to Audi UK to test my hypothesis! I thought my assumption may not be right and there will be an another explanation for this. However I was right, Audi placed wider front tyres for more grip and reduce the understeer :)

Brabus vs Price Tag

Brabus, German modification company specialised with Mercedes cars. It is really hard to spot one on the streets, they are very expensive and many people reluctant to pay that amount of money for a modified Mercedes. However, there is a compensation for that price tag! They are fast cars! Even an AMG seems to be slow when it is compared with a Brabus.

Recently, Brabus announced the world's fastest four-seat cabrio. It is capable of doing 370kph or 231 mph. And accelerates to 100 kph (60 mph) in 3,7 seconds with 800 hp and 1047 nm torque powered engine. These figures are really impressive like its price tag, £421.000 still for a Mercedes. That is the only problem Brabus forgot to resolve.

For this amount of money, you may buy a house, couple of Bentleys, Ferraris, Porsches or Aston Martins. Think of any super car and think again with plural word form. Brabus is overpriced like a Tom Ford sweater. It offers a very high quality fabric with respectful design but in the end, that's a sweater. Like Brabus, whatever it offers, in the end that's a Mercedes. That's why, you don't see them that much.

Geneva, 3rd March 2009 – At Geneva the Bugatti Veyron « Grand Sport » is shown for the first time to a wider public in Europe. Next to the Grand Sport Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. presents the Veyron « Bleu Centenaire », a special commission honouring the 100th anniversary of the company, thus initiating a range of worldwide activities celebrating the creation of this mythic brand a hundred years ago.
Hundred years of Bugatti
In 1909 Ettore Bugatti started his business in the Alsacian town of Molsheim, France. The name of the company: „Ettore Bugatti Automobiles i.Els.“. And although the name has changed into “Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.”, the site and the philosophy of the brand have been preserved. In 2006 the first model under the „new management“ was launched, precisely 50 years after the last car of the original company left the gates of the Molsheim factory. The Bugatti Veyron has only been on the market for three years, but has already reached the status of being an undisputed part of automotive history, with 250 cars ordered to date, and nearly 200 cars delivered. This means that there are only 50 Veyrons to be sold until the limit of 300 units will be reached.
The Veyron “Bleu Centenaire”
Building on the marque’s core values of « Art – Forme – Technique » , Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. has created the Bugatti Veyron Bleu Centenaire, a unique model to celebrate the hundred year old history of the company. This special model takes up the traditional Bugatti two-tone-specification, but portrays it in one rather than two colours: in the most known light shaded Bugatti blue. The Centenaire’s unique combination of a « sprintblue matt » and « sprintblue gloss » hence offers a new impression of the two-tone-scheme known so far with parts of the engine also covered in this traditional Bugatti Blue.

Similarly the “Aileron” name pays tribute to that aviation heritage.

Aston Martin

Aston Martin Lagonda Limited is a British manufacturer of luxury sports cars, based in Gaydon, Warwickshire. The company name is derived from the name of one of the company's founders, Lionel Martin, and from the Aston Hill speed hillclimb near Aston Clinton in Buckinghamshire.It also designs and engineers cars which are manufactured by Magna Steyr in Austria.From 1994 until 2007 Aston Martin was part of the Ford Motor Company, becoming part of the company's Premier Automotive Group in 2000. 2012 Lexus GS

The Lexus GS is a series of mid-size luxury sports sedans / executive cars sold by Lexus since 1993. Designed to fill the gap between the ES and LS, and to provide Lexus with a performance sedan to compete in the mid-luxury class, three generations of the GS have been produced to date. The first incarnation of the GS was introduced in 1993 in the United States, Europe and selected markets in Asia. The second generation model premiered in 1998, using a new platform and adding a V8 version for the first time outside Japan. The current third generation GS, which premiered globally for the 2006 model year, comes in both V6, V8, and hybrid versions, later known as the GS 450h performance hybrid. New Toyota Highlander 2012

The Toyota Highlander is a midsize crossover SUV produced by Toyota. It is a taller, heavier version of the Toyota Camry.Announced in April 2000 at the New York Auto Show and arriving in late 2000 in Japan and January, 2001, in North America, the Highlander became the first car-based midsize SUV or midsize crossover. The Highlander is the crossover counterpart to the more rugged, truck-based midsize 4Runner and became Toyota's best-selling SUV before being surpassed by the smaller RAV4 in 2006.
